REMEMBRANCE AND THANKS

To our ancestors, our loved ones, and our friends who died in conflicts and wars past and present – we honor you today. We honor Your Devotion … Your Love of Country … and Your Sacrifice. What you endured in your patriotic and heroic efforts are almost unimaginable to us today.

Thank you for establishing our beloved country and for protecting her for 236 years. Thank you for fighting to keep our liberty and freedom, and for defending those ideals throughout the world. Thank you for our lives and our American way of life – the beacon still shines brightly because of you. We owe you everything. Thank You.

In loving remembrance this weekend … we proudly salute you. And to our living military, current and retired, we proudly salute you, too.

God Bless You Always, and God Bless the USA!

PARK FUNDRAISING EFFORTS                                                                      Posted 5.27.12

Thanks to everyone who participated in the smoked meat fundraiser  ... we raised $755 in net sales and donations for the park!  Rave reviews are coming in over how tasty the ribs and Boston Butts are!  We will do this one again, probably around the Labor Day holiday.

Participation in various local events also continue with a number of special items for sale ... birdhouses, plant caddies, wooden herb boxes, lovely photography (matted or framed), herbs (spearmint and lemon balm), jewelry, and cedar wind spinners. We exhibited at the Mt. Laurel Saturday market on May 26th with moderate sales results.  Previous events include Trade Days
in Columbiana and the Antique Car Show in Shelby.

WORK IN THE PARK REPORT                                                                         Posted 5.05.12

Progress is being made with every Work in the Park Saturday - work is well underway to install a picnic area near the bridge on the south side of Dogwood Creek.  Pictures from the day ... Achievements are also posted under "The Park" page after every Work Saturday.

TRASH DUMPING                                                                                              Posted 5.05.12

Yard debris is being dumped at the west end of Pin Oak on the empty lot. A homeowner next to the lot has been  keeping it mowed and cleared so that it looks nice and doesn't become a neighborhood eyesore. This is not an appropriate place for discarded yard debris and is private property - please help spread the word that the dumping should cease.  That includes to any yard maintenance company who may be doing work for you and possibly using the area.

SMOKED MEAT FUNDRAISER KICK-OFF 5/1                                                Posted 4.30.12

Just in time for Memorial Day activities, we are kicking off the sale of smoked whole ribs and Boston Butts from renowned local caterer Whiskers!   Delivery will occur on Thursday May 24th – and as an added bonus, included is the first Yellowleaf cook booklet “Talk About Good! with 4 menus using the meats, all of the recipes and meat storage instructions. And it’s not too late to submit a delicious recipe to be included!

More details under Smoked Meats.

Fundraising proceeds go to the Dogwood Creek Park fund … and we hope you’ll help with the sales effort to make this our most successful one yet … here’s how you can help:

1. Tell your friends and family not to worry about a main entrée for Memorial Day weekend!   Ordering is quick and simple via our website. And the meats freeze well, too – so order more than one!

2. Tell the same thing to co-workers and colleagues in organizations you belong to …

3. Use the PDF flyer at the right to send information to those you contact, or
you can print it out for bulletin boards or places where community notices are
notices are posted.

4. Thank your customers with a delicious gift to enjoy for the weekend!   These make great customer appreciation gifts – Thanksgiving turkeys are nice, but Whiskers smoked meats will make you a stand-out against your competitors!

The meats really do sell themselves – just say Whiskers is doing the cooking!  We’ll make delivery convenient through our pick-up tent on 5/24 or via special delivery arrangements.

So let’s set a new fundraising record … and place your order today!
