From the City of Chelsea: garbage pick-up will run one day behind next week due to the Labor Day Holiday. Please help spread the word and let your neighbors know.  This has also been posted on the Yellowleaf HOA Facebook page and on the City of Chelsea website.

The next quarterly HOA board meeting will be held on Sunday, September 9th at 2pm at the Chelsea Senior Center.   Topics for discussion include:

  • Fiscal Year 2012-13 Budget
  • Committee Reports: Treasurer's Report, Welcome Committee, Landscape & Beautification
  • Park Update
  • Halloween

From the subdivision entrance, turn right onto Hwy 39. Go 2.0 miles and turn right onto Hwy 36.

RIBS OR BOSTON BUTT FOR LABOR DAY WEEKEND!                             Posted 8.12.12

Relax this Labor Day weekend and let Whiskers take care of your main entree!  We all enjoyed the smoked ribs and Boston Butts so much last Memorial Day, we are doing it again!  Ordering deadline is Saturday, 8/25 by midnight.  Pick up at Yellowleaf entrance on Thursday 8/30 between 5 - 7pm.  Proceeds go to the Dogwood Creek Park fund.  









RAILROAD CROSSING CLOSURE THURS 8/16                                            Posted 8.08.12

The railroad crossing on Hwy 47 next to City Hall will be closed to traffic on Thursday, August 16th.
It is estimated that the crossing may be closed all day. CSX will be handling all traffic control.  Please spread the word....


COMING SOON - SMOKED MEAT FUNDRAISER FOR LABOR DAY          Posted 7.30.12

Response from the Memorial Day smoked meat fundraiser was so positive, we are doing it again for Labor Day!  You'll soon see an ad in the next Chelsea Ink publication, donated to us by Diane Thomas, owner of Post Net. The publication is being delivered to homes on August 2nd, and we'll have our web ordering page ready to go by then.  Orders can be placed from August 2nd- 25th.

Here's the general schedule:

       August 12          Official kick-off with email communication & entrance sign
       August 12-14     Printed flyer delivery, depending on weather conditions
       August 25          Ordering deadline
       August 30          Meat delivery & pick-up  - tents will be set up at the entrance like last time!

So get ready to relax on Labor Day weekend and leave the cooking to us ... by way of Whiskers!

PS  All fundraising proceeds go to the Dogwood Creek Park project

                                 NEW MAILBOX DECAL 2012-2013                                 Posted 7.21.12

The HOA Member 2012-13 mailbox decal is now available and was delivered yesterday to the first 
27 homeowners who are already paid their annual dues.  The decal has been revised with a dogwood branch in the center above the words "Home of Dogwood Creek Park".  Residents will receive the new decal within a few days of their payment being received.  Thanks to all who paid so promptly ... payment is due by July 31st.  If you need another copy of the invoice, it can be found on both the Treasurer's Report and  Paying HOA Dues web-page.  To those who have also included a donation for the park with your dues payment ... Bless You and Thanks!

                                 BIG KABOOM RESULTS                                                  Posted 7.09.12

Thanks to the valiant efforts of 11 volunteer homeowners, the HOA concession stand yielded good fundraising results, especially for our first effort in this type of venue:

                          Total Sales $862                         Net Profit $472.15

​There were 620 cars in the vicinity, and we had a mad rush in the last 45 minutes before the fireworks started.  Sales of novelty items, food & drinks were all good, and we learned much about what this type of crowd likes... kids want flashy, blinky things!  Pity the poor parents who had to make their kidos choose "only one"!  Lastly, we have a nice inventory of items that can be used for various events throughout the remainder of year.  

It was hot ... really hot ... but the fireworks were amazing to see amidst an almost full moon ... 

Thanks to all of the volunteers who worked the stand and to neighbors who stopped by to make a purchase - this was a worthwhile effort to be considered again for the future!


BIG KABOOM TONIGHT!                                                                                  Posted 7.03.12

Stop by the HOA tent at the Big Kaboom tonight - we'll have cold drinks, snacks, frozen treats and fun patriotic items for sale - especially ones that flash and blink for the young at heart!  All proceeds go to the Dogwood Creek Park fund.  We will be located in the parking lot on the right side of Hwy 280 before you get to the Chelsea Park entrance - it's a great place to view fireworks!

Thanks to the following for donated items:  Walmart (Chelsea), Costco and Winn Dixie (Chelsea).

ANNUAL DUES INVOICE                                                                                  Posted 7.01.12

The invoice for annual HOA dues was sent today via email; non-email residents will receive a mailed invoice this week.  A copy of the invoice can be found on the Paying HOA Dues web-page and also under Treasurer's Report.  

The fiscal year just ended on June 30th was one of big accomplishments! Membership is now at an all time high and your board continued to exercise excellent expense control, both resulting in a modest budget surplus to be announced in the next newsletter. Several initiatives were launched or are cur-rently underway, including the new website, increased and more communication efforts, new land-scaping on the entrance island and the kick off of the Dogwood Creek Park project.  

Fundraising activities are now on-going for special HOA projects, and a section has been added to the annual invoice if you'd like to include a donation with your dues payment. Annual dues cover the basic necessities and maintenance, so donations are important for the continuation of special projects - projects that benefit us all in our home investment and the desirability of our neighborhood. 

Many thanks to everyone who has been so generous with their time and financial support in the past year ... we really do have a wonderful community!
