FAREWELL TO
FOUNDING PARK MANAGER

Our Park Manager, Brenda Mellen has held the position since its inception in 2012. She along with Pam Kimball, spent months developing a project plan. In 2012, Brenda presented the plan before Yellowleaf HOA Board of Directors and was given the green light to proceed. Her leadership, organization and vision poured into the creation of Dogwood Creek Park. She initiated fundraisers, Valentine's, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Easter cake sales (she is a wonderful baker/decorator) Smoked Meat sales, 4th of July Big Kaboom concessions, whatever would fund the park to continue development, along with donations from our members and businesses. In December 2013, under the direction of Brenda and others, Dogwood Creek Park's largest and most profitable fundraiser, Chelsea Christmas Village and Craft Show was held. It was a huge success and continues as our main fundraiser today. Brenda's commitment was unwavering. Had it not been for life's twists and turns and her family's need to relocate, she would have continued with the same enthusiasm today as the day she broke ground on this project. Many have worked alongside Brenda to bring Dogwood Creek Park to what it is today. I know Brenda would want me to profess that she did not do this alone and we all know who did what, but I don't think anyone but Brenda reaped a simultaneous rebirth of land and self. I thank you and wish you well. I will miss you.
